Quiet and secluded bungalow community with little homes right on the Hudson, and you can enter it from Fort Lee Historic Park. A killer walk would be starting in Manhattan, going up to the GW and walking across to Jersey, then walking down through Fort Lee park and into the colony.

rockaways feel like this faraway corner of the city that shouldn't exist, real border land vibes. this part especially feels very secluded and has a great view of the water or the city depending where you face. also double rec biking there via Flatbust/Marine Pkwy bridge, it has a pedestrian walkway!

Remote but that's part of the appeal -- maybe most peaceful place of the city. unbeatable sunsets, great view of manhattan, saw a red beaked swan here once and a totally black mallard. perfect little stone benches for watching the water and the sky.

connected to NYC by a solid train system and also very lush and full of nature. spent a lot of time escaping the city all over that region but knew folks who commuted into the city from there. def more affordable the further out you go, and thereโ€™s a good selection of smaller cities and quaint little towns to choose from.

The best internet platforms enshittify when they take on VC funding, either exiting to the market or a larger acquisition as a result of the pressures of venture capital. Itโ€™s all downhill from there: Investors and leadership will strip the company for parts, enforce mass layoffs, sabotage the user experience, all in the name of maximizing returns. What if Perfectly Imperfect took a different route, and exited to its community of users, paid subscribers, and workers? What if PI became a solidarity cooperative, or something similar? Letโ€™s think about how to safeguard the legacy of this clearly beloved platform.
