Unfortunately 97% of the time you will feel better. Don’t listen to the brain gremlin that says otherwise.

Our brains were not meant to computer gaze for this many hours a day. We were never wired to know all of the things happening across the globe. Feeling overwhelmed? Go outside. Touch grass. Water. Concrete. Dirt. Something. Maybe spice it up with a little activity. Take pictures of cool signs you see. Bend down and look at an ant. Find a John Wilson-ass quirk in the dynamic world around you. Your brain and body will like it.

I used to struggle with this and I really feel for you, it’s hard having that form of anxiety. I was advised over time to pay attention to any moments outside that feel neutral or nice, as a way to gradually build trust with the environment. I remember one time I was in a park and a random guy helped out a mom by picking up a piece of string cheese that her toddler dropped. That always stuck with me funnily enough, and sometimes I think back to that kind interaction when I’m having an anxious moment outside. Also, when you notice yourself feeling anxious about something outside just offer yourself some compassion and gently remind yourself of the likely reality of the situation. People are going about their day just like you, and there is so much pleasant information available to you if you let yourself be open to it ✨
