uninstalled pi for a while because i didn’t have the time to really Post the way i would like, and i’m glad i did - now that i’m back and have some spare time i can give all your takes and recs the attention they deserve, and i really like positively declaring “i’m going to catch up on pi.fyi now” instead of idly opening the app in between work bullshit. it makes engaging with the space much more fulfilling

specifically i wanna see how events work BUT i do want to say the thing i do still adore about pi.fyi is that i can leave and come back and not feel the pressure to constantly perform and post like there is on instagram. it's there for your moment and won't make all of your moments about itself if it's not the site for you rn. like it's not trying to be addicting and become the sole focus of your life. need more of that.

As pi.fyi gains popularity I notice more and more people using it like twitter/trying to hit an algorithm/”tweetdecking” recs/memeing so incongruent to me because pi truly feels like a place of respite from all the aforementioned internet behavior. using it to identify and share small joys from your day, talk about things you want more of in your life, share about yourself, explore things you’re curious about … I promise that’s “good content”. 🫶

just realized this never posted the paragraph i typed up o_o … it was to the affect of how i love this community & the little wonders & observations & gratitude it fills me up with. ive been neglecting my page recently but irl ive been writing a lot more, taking a lot more time to enjoy the small things in life that get posted here. more time to reflect & feel like shit about the state of the world. but between the doomscrolling & hours of writing everything out, this page is a small bit of solace for me

spent the last two weeks working on an interactive guide, recommendations database, and digital library (link depot) to help get people off of social media. the first draft is done now, and it's at the link to this post. it's still very much a work in progress (the library is especially thin atm) - which is why i wanted to share it here before unleashing it upon my IRL friends and the general public. i welcome any and all feedback, bug reports, and suggestions for things to add. i will be pushing updates to it out like a madman in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back every so often to see new additions to the database and library. additionally, i am still on the hunt for newsletters from local venues / community organizations / magazines / newspapers, etc. the only cities i have remotely covered so far are nyc, orlando, denver, brisbane, and little bits of worcester and chicago. if you know anything in your area that fits the bill, send it my way!
