a perfect satire, i think about this all the time. takes all of the cliches of the “dudes talking” podcasts out there and doubles down on all of them. between this and on cinema, tim heidecker knows the media landscape better than anyone else
every character is so unique and weird in the best ways possible. The first Dr Sweet chat the small talk robot episode made me laugh so hard my head started to hurt.
He drew all these unbelievably intricate maps of middle-earth that were never published during his lifetime, purely for his own amusement and his love of thoroughness. I aspire to that level of devotion to my passions! I also love his more informal abstract paintings and drawings. They’re kind of outsider art in a funny way but so underrated and don’t get enough love!
Particularly for you Americans out there. As with all the best comedy, I hear a line from this show in my head almost everyday as things happen around me. ‘This is the one thing we didn’t want to happen’ etc. The video FX and editing are genius and have not been beaten imo.
