Not to be biased, but my dear friend Isamar is one of the best Chicago artists I know. Her work is inspired by Belladonna of Sadness, with touches of femme-horror and erotica. My office is filled with her art, and I love looking around.

I’m lucky to have this amazing artist friend who paints herself into her work named scout. she’s very honest and open as a close friend— &&& that also comes out in her paintings. Scout makes me wanna be a better photographer and has taught me a lot about being an artist who is also in recovery. She is fearless and you should follow her work or if you have money, buy her work.

I’ve loved thrifting and vintage since I was young, and while I’m not a perfect sustainable fashionista, I try! I also really enjoy the cultural commentary and policy coverage — they’re so helpful for a girl with an environmental reporter beat and a passion for eco-fashion.
