just bought some stuff for myself and debated for a very long time whether i should get them or not but hey whatever money comes and money goes #yolo and all that
there's something so thrilling about spending money you don't have. the idea of "well i could get creamed by a car tomorrow so i'll buy this $30 art print that i won't frame for two years" encourages appreciation for the fleeting nature of life. that, and i really wanted that art print. it's a hamster saying "no thoughts, head empty." that's worth $30 to me.
it was somewhere on a blog years ago, where someone broke that down in depth - basically if you're getting shit pay, whatever fun thing you bought with that money is shit. I used to impulse shop quite a bit before I read that adage, and now really think through my circumstances when I'm impulse shopping, like wtf am I doing? Why am I throwing so much money on this when I could just... chill?
