proud of myself for watching barbapapa with no subtitles and understanding it all. it really boosted my confidence in my french and aided my listening skills... peppa pig is another that i've tried, but i preferred barbapapa because it was originally in french so it just seems like a better choice in my brain. give it a go! they have fun storylines too and they're cute and the episodes are like between five and fifteen minutes. an interesting supplement to a language learning journey

tv shows!!! i can't stress this enough, watching people engage in the language helps so much. after doing french for years and graduating with a delf b2, i give all credit to the fact that i was put in an immersive environment where french was always spoken around me. you can start with children's shows like Téléfrançais, and then move to your favourite show dubbed etc. that being said, nothing beats talking in french...so if all else fails, meet some french speakers to chat with, or maybe temporarily move to france 😄 i wish you the best of luck!

I’m learning German intensively at the moment and something that helped massively was watching a TV show I was v. familiar with in German (I chose BoJack Horseman). The main thing that helped was to have absolutely no subtitles (English or German) because it forced me to really focus on the melody of the language and pick it apart. I’d also really recommend finding a podcast series that you find engaging, because the conversation is just so much more realistic. My teacher explained that the most important thing is to surround yourself with the language in every way (music, YouTube, even changing your phone language) even if you don’t understand everything, because that way your brain will naturally start to internalise the language :-)

if u have them … my cats are now francophone because i only talk to them in french & it creates a judgement-free space for natural conversation where u r hopefully only speaking french also love teen magazines — my french teacher had a few from like 2010 (cool magazine) & i learnt so much strange québécois slang & news sources in general, i’m #canadian so i just use radio canada & it’s great.. much pertinent vocab + sentence structure tv5monde has a section full of exercises where u watch little videos & answer questions & i always learn something on there that isn’t french so it’s cool
