I was initially drawn to Threshold after seeing a few friends post the single cover for this song. At the time I had no idea that it was my own friend Isaac (of Strange Ranger) behindĀ it, and he seemed happy that his mysterious new project fooled me. Context aside though— this is one of the best songs I heard all year, and I guarantee that its minimal arrangement + hypnotizing chorus will pull you right in to its strange little world. And it doesn't stop there, this entrancing dream-like atmosphere extends to the rest of the album that arrived shortly after,Ā Thief. I feel like he's on to something truly new with this sound.

Big rec here I was initially drawn in by the album art (always judge a book by it's cover) and ended up completely obsessed with the hypnotic chorus & atmosphere of this one. Had no idea it was isaac from Strange Ranger's new project until 3 minutes ago. If love and only love can break your heart What's this tearing mine apart? Oh yeah Oh baby The years flying faster all the time I lie awake and dream all night Oh yeah Oh baby So good

The dreams this record wanders through remind me of Wu Lyf, but slightly more beaten down by the calamity of information overload. What if '80s 4AD became lingua franca? What if we knew what the Cocteau Twins were saying? What if Donna Hayward and James Hurley took off with their band?

In Evening Air is a personal all-time classic, but aside from a few singles here and there nothing from these guys has caught me… until now! I always described them as ā€œTom Waits fronting a synthpop band,ā€ which is still true, but there’s a little more emphasis on the synthpop now. ā€œThe Thiefā€ might be the best pop song I’ve heard in years.

tomorrow PI.FYI launches to the public this project is the result of thousands of hours spent coding everything from scratch after I got laid off six months ago no thiel-bucks or weirdo outsider money, just a pure desire to make something fun and true to Perfectly Imperfect’s day one goal of helping people find new things from real human beings, not algorithms or AI a pure labor of love that I’ve been quietly plotting for two years and it’s completely self-funded from my (rapidly) dwindling savings account so thank you for coming along for this weird ride 🫶 let's see where it goes
