My grandfather passed away last year and my family recently went through his things. I took a compass, a keychain flask, and a pocket knife. I think he would love the idea of a chic young woman such as myself pulling out his compass in the middle of Bushwick to seem like an individual or taking a shot from his flask during the Nowadays ā€œsafe spaceā€ speech.

Keeping a direct line open to one’s ancestors is I think a very effective way of not falling off the face of our earth. This could be facilitated by a piece of family jewelry or a photo/painting of/belonging to an ancient in your line. Warning sometimes these objects can get a bit charged and you gotta maybe light a candle and open a window and be like I know, I’m listening, thank you. For me remembering that I am a small sapling from many redwoods helps me feel looked out for and like if i take a big swing and miss they will still love me.

The mute option on Instagram is life changing. I feel like unfollowing people feels weird so I love that I don’t have to see things from people that I don’t want to. Perfect option for old friends/exes/whoever. Makes me feel much better when I don’t have as much of a sinking feeling every time I open the app.

I think we as hot girls have forgotten about scarves. Patterned and colorful ones specifically. Tripping in public or ur Apple Pay not working is sooo much more charming if you’re in a long coat and a fun scarf.
