Back towards the end of pregnancy with my son, there were a couple of songs that stuck with me that I decided were songs that he liked from within the womb. This was one of those songs. I still have never listened to another song by this band, but I sing it to him every night. It is not really a love song, definitely not a song for a child, but it is one of my songs for him. I had a two day labor with him, it was a very long and intense experience. It’s hard to describe the mixture of sleeplessness, hormones, drugs, and absolute beyond anything I’ve ever felt love I was experiencing. I hear this song and I’m just taken back to those middle of the night wakings, walking around with him, so utterly in love.
CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED PUNISHABLE BY FINE OR IMPRISONMENT OR BOTH My mom had Deee-Lite’s World Clique on CD (the one with Groove Is in the Heart) and played it during every car ride when I was little. I had never listened to the rest of their discography, but a tattoo client brought Infinity Within and Dewdrops in the Garden CDs for our session and I am losing my fucking mind I did not know they had it like that. The whole Infinity Within album honestly. That was a really beautiful shared experience
Idk why but my mother reallllllly liked this album and it was a pivotal part of my childhood. Beatles songs covered by some
greats of that time(2002). Apparently when I was a kid and wanted to hear this album I would say, “mama, can you play the la la la song?” In reference to Mother Nature’s Son.
