it’s a beautiful beautiful book and a quick read which is a major pro for my attention span. Its poignant, well articulated and the characters are intriguing and not overly dramatized.
this book very much puts the “short” in short book, but it was such a treat. it’s definitely more of a mellow and low-key story, but it’s so beautifully written, especially in the subtle ways it delivers its themes. i highly recommend giving it a read, it took me only a couple of hours so it’s definitely a good low-commitment book if you’re pretty busy like me.
This is one of the best books I read the year it came out— it’s originally in French, and is the first of a quartet, but can be read alone. The elaborate world building is such a satisfying contrast to characters that are hyperreal and it was such a beautiful read; I sat with it a long time after I’d finished, and I think it fits the brief of “blow your mind” very well.
