I am getting very sick of entering a shop that says itâs filled with âartist-made goodsâ and its floor to ceiling baggu. I have a couple baggu pieces, but when I go into a store IRL or online that labels itself as a trinket trove in one way or another, I want to see real honest to god trinkets, gizmos, and doodads.
Iâve been collecting stickers lately, particularly vintage ones on eBay and weird artist made stickers. Gatoshop really helps me get my fix and add to my collection.
A studio run out of Mexico City, Inès Estrada and her team curate a lovely collection of local and international stationary, zines, keychains and other artist made gifts. They have some fun vintage toys and trinkets too and are always updating the website. check them out!

greenwich letterpress in greenwich village - card shop with tons of small business and handmade cards, plus stickers and some other things

strand bookstore in east village - i donât go there much but itâs a must for any book lover visiting, itâs huge and has a mix of used and new books.
front general store in dumbo - super interesting little shop with lots of gifts and clothing!
housing works bookstore in nolita - mostly used bookstore with some thrifted clothing and a cafe! & very cozy vibes.
nypl shop in midtown - underrated gift shop imo, great to stop by after seeing the nypl polonsky exhibit!
beaconâs closet in lots of places - thrift store, is a pain to go through on weekends because they get so crowded but youâre likely to get some good finds
peace & riot in bed-stuy - unique home goods and gifts!
min & mon in soho - pricey but very cute bags and theyâre made more ethically than typical designer bags!

6 DaShop - Anime/trading card store, the guy who runs the shop is super knowledgeable and very helpful
7 - TwentySidedStore - Probably the chillest and nicest looking board game shop I've ever been in.
8 - Dobbin Street Co-Op - Greenpoint has so many amazing pieces at affordable rates

trying to make my internet usage more intentional by using my stationary PC build has been really great honestly. we lost the recipe when we lost the Computer Room in the American familyâs home. there is something to be said for only being able to access socials in one room in the house. plus making purchases feels more serious on a big monitor than my phone screen, so financially itâs also been helping in a psychological sense
