Picking out a piece that has already been loved by someone else and making it your own is so rewarding and special. One of my favorite ways to make my style personal.
Thrifting is amazing for so many reasons: - sustainable
- a fun mission
- affordable
- good quality stuff at a much lower price
- anything and everything is possible! I like to go to the more affluent thrift stores in the burbs (the old ladies like to donate their good brands, silk, cashmere, ect). My method is to go in with an intention, a manifestation, if you will. More times than not, it will be there! Bonus thrift karma if you bring an offering to donate. I will take it rack by rack - shove everything to one side and shift through as quickly as possible - looking for higher end brands and materials (silk, cashmere, linen, denim, leather, and cotton). Avoid rayon, acrylic, polyester, anything synthetic if you can. Fashion repeats itself every 20 years so likely whatever trendy item youāre looking for already exists from another decade and likely it will be better quality. Last point is to know the difference between vintage and thrift. Vintage stores they have already done the āsourcingā so they are marked up. I love the grimy thrift stores and the smaller ones (not Goodwill - prices are a fking joke there). I also do a lot of online searching on Depop, Poshmark, EBay, fb marketplace, Mercari, ect. Found an entire new wardrobe for my partner online for less than $200.
i think itās neat how thereās something for every version of yourself like you can go to the same thrift store for 10-20 years and thereās always something you want and it doesnāt matter who you are or in what ways you change because itās an infinite cycle of wares that evolves with the society around it idk but i got a cool turtleneck today tho
Taking a nice stroll in the brisk air can be so healing and rejuvenating. Bonus points if you put on a nice outfit and make an event out of it, wear a colorful scarf and carry a warm drink with you!
This may seem simple, but thereās something beautiful about it to me. There are so many ways you could make the experience fit your mood (or your patience). It can be cut into strips, cubed, scooped with a spoon, or just eaten whole if thatās what youād like. My favorite thing to do is eat them out in the warm sun!
