Soft launching that I live somewhere in DC, but the georgetown flea watch man is worth it. He is a friendly tinkerer with a timepiece for everyone!
A few months ago I got this seiko, fulfilling a 2 year quest for a watch.
He is there every Sunday with hundreds of nice affordable options and I bet he’d be willing to fix your broken watch too.

since moving back home, i’ve been investing in finding and supporting small businesses in the city to take care of me and my things. here’s a list of “guys” i love and would recommend:
- a jeweler (repair, clean, and sizing)
- a watch guy (repair, restore, battery replacement)
- a tailor (hemming my pants)
- a camera repair guy (one of the last in the city!)
- a dry cleaner (self explanatory)
- a leather guy (shoes and bags)
- a knife sharpener
nothing brings me more joy than picking something up that has lovingly been given more life. seek these folks out, keep them in business. an added bonus is that i’ve “unlocked” a bunch of buildings downtown that i wouldn’t ordinarily set foot in.

my friend and i have a tradition of going to this flea market the local punk bar puts on twice a year and they’re literally my favourite days. nothing better than an afternoon of perusing artisan kiosks and yapping

I threw a dinner party last night and it was so much fun! It’s winter and it’s been pretty bleak, so I thought it be nice to have friends over. This was my first time hosting something completely solo and I thought it would be very stressful but it was smooth sailing and the night was merry and cute! For me this past year has really been about platonically putting myself out there and forging local friendships and last night felt like a cumulation of that effort :-) It wasn’t a super fancy meal, but still, very nice. It’s great to be invited but its also like sometimes you gotta make the magic happen

I’m sitting outside eating a spicy falafel wrap and fries in the best city (Philadelphia), the sun is shining, ambient music is being played directly into my eardrums, I’m texting friends, a child is playing and just leapt over me. I’m wishing everyone I talk to a happy new year :)
