i feel like nilüfer yanya’s discography as a whole is grossly underrated; however, painless is a fucking amazing album from start to finish that deserves way more recognition than it got imo. yanya’s voice is like amber on this and the moods she’s able to evoke thru her lyrics and melodies hit you like a ton of bricks. from the slower tracks to the faster ones, i find myself bobbing my head to the effortless grooves and i‘m still finding small details to gush over the more and more i listen to it ⭐️
swapping out the instant gratification of tiktok for the more personal and meditative feel of perfectly imperfect just feels ~ right ~ for 2025. also i feel like the right people will just *get* this platform, while bigots and basics will steer clear from it. here’s to hoping 🤞🏽
this is one of my all-time favorite albums and is def a no skip. the way kelela moves through a devastating break up and finds power in her vulnerability and sadness is genius. i will never stop rinsing this idfcccc
i’ve grown to really value my alone time, and i was able to reach that point once i started to associate time spent alone with peace, grounding, and recovery. when you’re alone, do things that bring you peace and inner joy so that over time, you begin to look forward to being alone. whether it’s self-care, reading a book, discovering films, or playing your favorite album, etc, learn to enrich yourself during your alone time. essentially, @ the end of the day we have to be able to depend on ourselves for a lot, so using alone time to ground yourself and learn self love is of upmost importance.
