A quote by Marcus Aurelius. Thoughts on this in being applicable to today’s world?

I interpret it as walking the talk rather than speaking the talk. I think we do a lot of that online. A collective internet culture I’ve noticed is we love to debate, argue, get ā€œintoā€ it… I don’t think we do a lot of listening. Listening, observing, doing… just doing. How I personally see it :)

ive never heard this one before but i really appreciate it! we alllll have opinions on what being a ā€goodā€ person means but that doesn’t really matter if we aren’t backing it up by doing good

ā€œAll we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to usā€ J.R.R. Tolkien…. Master quote maker, LORD of the rings…
So timeless, so true. It’s easy for a quote to become cheesy the more you see it on posters, online, on mugs etc… don’t let it! Weā€˜ve been gifted the time, now what are you going to do with it?!

been working hard to internalize a quote i read online recently. it says ā€œthe time will pass anyway whether i handle it emotionally or not… how utterly pointless to suffer so much & still choose to be miserableā€. reminds me of that old Seneca quote, Something about the man who worries before necessary, suffers twice. when things already suck, i still have the option to be happy & make things better for myself. i know it sounds easier said than done but many times I’ve found myself rejecting this notion when a little bit of kindness towards myself, a deep breath & some patience would’ve gotten me through. every Moment is an opportunity to turn things around & make myself happy. gratitude helps a lot w this. blurting This all out here coz i know it’s an idea ill soon forget once im actually in the throes of a tough time āļø

I used to feel a similar way spending hours scrolling through instagram and tiktok, which provide quick but unearned instant gratification inherently frying your brain with content. But the way i got out of it was to force myself to consume content that made me wait for the pay off, be it youtube essays, movies, books etc. it makes you regain your attention span to a significant extent and then you feel independent of that need to mindlessly scroll in just a months time. Just be careful to not fall into that rut again. Its a slippery slope. TLDR: just watch a mad man on youtube rant about an obscure piece of media till tiktoks dont interest you anymore.
