the passing of the seasons has got to be my favorite thing of all time since the first time i remember having consciousness. here’s my favorite tree, having finally shed for the winter. i live in central FL where we get some autumn colors in the wintertime, & at the start of January this one finally shed its leaves :D ecstatic at this bc I’ve lived most of my life in south FL, where leaves stay intact & green year round, & the seasons kind of blend into one. no greater feeling to me than knowing that the earth changes with me

For some reason, the past few years I’ve had this obsession with completely ignoring the existence of spring. Oh, it’s the first of May? Then summer is officially here! But no, why should I ignore one of the most important seasons of all? If summer is the goal, then spring is the journey, and we all know that it’s the path that counts not the destination. And once I’d made this realisation it took such a heavy weight off of my shoulders; I realised that I actually had some time to shed my moody winter persona, and to slowly crank up the outgoing summer persona who wants to speak to absolutely everyone and do absolutely everything. So for me, spring is officially the best season of the year, and it’s made me feel like having an amazing summer in 2024 if within my own power, and not something that I have to blindly hope for.

accepting seasons as they are is giving in to the cycle of life. spring is a birth, summer a peak, fall a celebration of abundance, and winter is a death. the seasons can be found every day, morning as spring to winter as a small death every night (sleep). also menstrual cycles 4 distinct phases can be represented with the seasons. seasons are so extremely embedded in our souls and bodies as humans, even if we live where they are not pronounced. accepting seasons also helps us come to terms with death and accepting the ends of cycles and even seeing them as just as beautiful as the beginnings. and cycles are beautiful because we know after every winter, there can come a spring!

I got back to my apartment last night after an unexpected 2 week hiatus - and I woke up this am to find out that this purple tree is outside of my bedroom window 🥹🥹🥹I didn’t live here last spring, and I had no idea she was going to bloom. I recommend this season to everyone (this is only my 6th? year living somewhere where 4 seasons happen.)
