I buy big blocks of organic cocoa butter and melt it down and pour it into twist-up sticks and use that as moisturizer!!!! So simple and so soothing and nourishing to the skin. I’ve also been using jojoba oil mixed with a little dab of Weleda Skin Food but Skin Food is aggressively scented so not really what you asked for…
This is no secret… I saw you responded and I was like what wisdom is this crunchy queen going to offer today! Maybe I will get on the shea butter life 🤔
sofe feeling so seen right now. I recommend it I feel like it’s so much cheaper and simpler and it’s portable too 💅 you can make a bunch of sticks and keep one in your bag one at work etc
taterhole also I meant cocoa butter not shea… yes perhaps I will return to my Waldorf homeschooled child roots and start making homemade salves again 🫢 I have a large hunk of beeswax somewhere too lol
They’ve been super helpful for hyperpigmentation, scarring, texture, and redness. I’ve used them off and on for years! I use the extreme night but the daily cleansing are also good and it might be better to start off with those if your skin isn’t used to acids. These are like getting a chemical peel but they’re more mild and easier to apply. Wear sunscreen during the day as they can make your skin more photosensitive! But I guess you should wear sunscreen anyway or whatever. Also a big fan of cocoa butter as a moisturizer which should also help… And jojoba oil is a great skin oil with kind of a drier less greasy texture. LATELY I have been using Weleda baby sensitive care face cream because I saw somebody mention it as a gentler fragrance free version of Weleda Skin Food… which is a goated moisturizer and gives you a beautiful glow but unfortunately it was admittedly mildly irritating to my face (much better when diluted with an oil like jojoba though)… the baby cream definitely smells like it should go on a baby’s skin in the sense that it has a vaguely medicinal smell. it’s very rich and thick with a whipped texture… delightful and very hydrating. And it comes in the FOIL TUBE which skin food also used to come in but now it’s packaged in plastic instead 🤢
I fucking hate using lotion (sensory sensitivities s/o my neurodivine fam) except for this one - the smell is so relaxing it actually makes me tear up when I open a new jar. I struggle a lot with eczema in the dry Colorado winters and this helps enormously. Black woman owned brand and eco-friendly !!
she has been saving my extremely sensitive skin from the cruel winter winds (formulated for people with eczema and I have allergic contact dermatitis — it’s fantastic at doing the heal + protect thing)
My dad teases me about how when I was a little kid, my favorite thing to do when I was on the landline phone with somebody—be it a relative or one of my best friends—was to breathlessly describe the things that were in my bedroom so that they could have a mental picture of everything I loved and chose to surround myself with, and where I sat at that moment in time. Perfectly Imperfect reminds me of that so thanks for always listening and for sharing with me too 💌
