I watched Amelie when I was 15 years old and it's been my favorite movie ever since. Something about her way of observing others, imperfectness, and absolute longing for a romanticism of life. Not to mention the gorgeous color pallet throughout the entire movie just has me close to tears. 10/10 recommend.
everytime i watch this movie i feel like the big things in life arent so big, and the smaller things bring me so much more joy. been watching this since I was young (prolly shaped me in some strange ways)
There's tons of movies that I think are a must-see (Tampopo, Roman Holiday, Moonlight, Amelie etc.) and trying to recommend any made me realise how much I love watching films... but I'd start with this one. It's about Living, with a capital T, and it's got plot, beautiful scenery etc. I also think it's a straightforward way to see what films do versus documentaries or other visual media.
I first saw it as a bored volunteer at a film festival, killing time between two other movies I really wanted to see instead hahaha go in with zero expectations.
Especially when it's a sizeable one and you haven't read any books for months and months ( Just tore through Christopher Isherwoods 'Goodbye to Berlin' )
