easier said than done, but I find that talking my day through and connecting with someone boosts my mood and becomes more essential the older I get. I am lucky because my roommate and I are close friends, but even having a quick dinner with someone else or calling someone on the phone to catch up can be so fulfilling! it’s also great to vent about work, get a second opinion on things, or share the oddities of your day. Makes life better! Bonus: go on a walk with a friend or on a walk while calling someone

whether it’s your coworker who works in a different team than you but comes over and says hi, or nodding/waving to a neighbor who’s always smoking on their stoop when you go for afternoon walks, or a weekly check in with a friend while you wash your dishes, having people in your day to day who have varying degrees of social placements in your life enriches your human experience…
there’s something so satisfying about a lengthy hangout. there are so many shifts and unspoken compromises between people, roles assumed and forfeited. it’s just awesome, i love my friends.
