I like to buy “school supplies” at the beginning of the “semester” even though I am “29 and work in an office.” This semester I got a new notebook and a new pair of sneakers for gym (going for walks on my lunch break.) Shopping for a new pen or notebook makes me feel like strawberry bubblegum passing notes cafeteria pizza crush AND I like being gently intentional about when I buy things—no more shoe shopping until fall semester!

it does not matter that we aren't kids anymore or that you are not starting fourth grade take yourself to buy school supplies because your soul calls for it and time isn't real and it's okay to do something just for the sake of reminding yourself you are here you are a person in this world

first day of school two years post college feels like I’m a kid again and it’s for actual classes I’m excited about
😃
im graduating this may (feels weird to be saying this after 4 years), and im doing all of the random things that I can do only as a student. like, getting a bagel from our main student hub by myself and people watching! or, inviting a friend to meet up at the library and drink chai lattes while chatting about our day. i know im gonna miss doing these tiny things once i get thrown into “the real world” and doing these little things help keep me sane.

go to your local library‘s website or download the app. then search for a book you really want to read. then put it on hold. it feels like online shopping but it’s free. in a few days or weeks you'll get a cute text message or email that your book is ready to pick up and you’ll get to say hello to your local librarians and procure a new (to you) book which also feels like free shopping. the most functional part of our government ily public libraries

i usually find myself in reading ruts when i’m taking classes and being assigned books or when i’m trying to keep up with new releases and the “smart” books that are usually dense and long. i can usually get myself out of this rut by picking out a book that looks fun to me, like a book set on a beach or something I loved in middle school. I’m reading From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler right now and it’s just FUN!!! I also am very much not someone who feels like they have to finish a book. Life is too short. I think that helps!
