Maybe just something I recommend thinking about more. A lot of people, parents especially, like to tell us that we are so “easily influenced“ by everything we see on social media. I think that is definitely partially true, but my corner of the internet and someone else’s look completely different.. is everything we see completely curated towards what we like? How does pinterest know that I’ll like the pair of jeans a see right after refreshing the page if not only by the data it’s kept from things I’ve previously interacted with. Does this mean I’ll like everything I see on the internet? NO! It may be likely that I’ll like a lot of what I see, but is that because I’m an easily influenced person or is it just that social media will likely push what it wants me to see based off of what I’ve told it that I have liked in the past.
That‘s all obvious, but it does help take the guilt away when scrolling in bed and feeling like all the outfits that I see or all of the food and furniture is appealing, not just because someone cool or hot is promoting it, but because it is a mix of what I already like and not JUST what’s currently trending. Everybody‘s inspiration comes from somewhere.. lol
