21st birthday on a call w a friend

maybe it’s the joy on my face or maybe it’s the fact that i know exactly what happened for this picture to occur, but, man, i love it. nothing like being 21, drunk, and sweaty staring at all of your friends from your apartment’s alley and getting a half-eaten slice of homemade cake shoved in your hands. i had called my friend who left the party bc he got too high and was scared of all the people hahaha. he never did end up coming back. this is still a night i’m very grateful for and i’m happy to have this moment captured. thank you, stringbean501

I celebrated my 21st in January There’s a bar near my university that has “wine Wednesday“ which is $5 for a really heinous bottle of wine. Most ppl go regularly already bc there’s pool, cheap drinks, and it’s within walking distance of campus. Vibes are less than great but that’s beside the point lol. My 21st fell on a Wednesday, and all I knew is that I did not want to get my expectations up. That would only lead to birthday blues. So I figured I would just invite my inner circle to come celebrate with me at wine Wednesday. Which turned into me inviting anyone i thought was cool/ wanted to be friends w. My close friends also brought their respective friend groups. I got dressed up cute, got to the bar at 10, and throughout the night got to say hi to ppl as they came and went. it took all the pressure off of me to entertain or make sure ppl were getting along. bc everyone had their own peeps to talk to and different activities to entertain themselves w. The bartender gave me free shots and the DJ let me play whatever I wanted. It was a great time and way more ppl than I thought came through. i corralled my close ppl for a group pic and after that everyone had their own fun time Allowing me to Irish exit to partake in some more illicit stuff and I ended my night drunk beyond belief tagging in a train yard w one of my friends I will be celebrating in this style going forward, it was great, and now there are at least a dozen train cars that say “happy 21st birthday Sophia” w my or my friends tag :D ALSO IF NO ONE YAKS ON UR 21st U DIDNT DO IT RIGHT

Too cold/busy for a walk

i have a little routine i like to do on certain days when im feeling empty, a little yearning, overall namelessly melancholic. i like to put on my coat and my book bag and my headphones, go to a coffee shop a few steps from my house, and get an early grey tea and a parmesan pesto stuffed bagel. then i walk ten minutes to the end of my street to this little place i call my own. it's a rock about 20 feet tall, two minutes walking distance from the road. from there i can look across all of the neighborhoods that defined my childhood, at the backs of houses and tops of trees and dogs in the back yard. i usually spend about an hour up there, reading or drawing or what have you. and today is the exact sort of day that calls for a walk like that. some rock time if u will. unfortunately, it's the middle of winter, as cold as a witches tit out, and i have plans from 10 am till 10 pm. usually i take that walk to cure the longing in me, now i long for the walk lol (pictured below; the only photo i have of the view, taken early july)

Got to sit on my favorite rock!

made a post the other day about being unable to sit on a big rock. but!! i was dedicated today to go on my rock walk!!! it's got some snow on it, but was just as easy to climb up. brought frankenstein up here to read :-)

Late night phone calls

one of my friends is currently living across the country from me because of college. he's been back in town since late december, and ive seen him a lot since then. hes always been the sort of friend i can talk to for hours on end about nothing in particular. tonight, we played mgs 4 with a group of four or five others, then later hopped on a friend group discord we were both playing different games, and weren't paying too close attention to our own or each others. we talked about so much i can barely remember now, even just a couple minutes after disconnecting. some of my favorite nights recently have just been playing a game and being on call with a friend (both him and others). nothing bombastic, nothing to riotously funny; just simple conversation to fill the air and get a few laughs.
