I have over 1,000 liked songs on Spotify spanning from what feels like a lifetime of music listening. I’ve currently been in a little bit of a music slump, so throwing on my liked songs and just seeing what pops up has been a really fun reset for me. I’m rediscovering a lot of old favorites.
been feeling frustrated w my spotify discovery weekly - started listening to my liked songs on shuffle and wow so much great music I totally forgot in service of NEW stuff. it's like a discovery weekly your old self curated
Normally, I’m a big album person, but lately my roommate got me into listening to my liked songs. It’s amazing. You get the best of all worlds, Nirvana into Clairo into Caroline Polachek into Talking Heads into Andre3000… How spectacular that we have all of the music in the world just at our constant disposal.
when you put your spotify likes on shuffle, it's not actually shuffling all of your liked music, but rather the music you have listened to the most frequently in the recent past. if you've ever felt like you've been hearing the same music whenever you're on shuffle, you're not crazy, this algorithmic influence is likely why. despite users constantly requesting a true shuffle feature on spotify, the company has stated numerous times that they have no intent on changing their current shuffle options. to bypass this lack of effort on spotify's behalf, i found this app that connects to your spotify and actually shuffles your likes and other playlists with no bias. it's been really refreshing to truly listen to all of my likes and not just the top 50 most listened-to tracks on my spotify.
Saw this painting at an antique store a few months ago and I think about it almost every day and regret not buying it. Would love to see the world through her eyes!
-making someone a cup of tea.
-watching someone older than you do their makeup. I remember watching my mom do her makeup in the morning and it feeling like such a special moment when I was a kid.
-this is incredibly specific to me, but my dad loves chopping and prepping vegetables. Either for salads or just to have to snack on, and every time I’m home while he’s doing that he will always give me the last chunk of carrot or cucumber or bell pepper to eat. And there’s just something about that moment that I absolutely love and relish. 🥲
