This movie is a warm blanket for me. It’s fast, pretty, and has a happy ending, which I think are perfect ingredients for a comfort film!

Fantastic Mr. Fox explores the tension between primal instincts and societal roles, with Mr. Fox torn between his wild nature and family responsibilities. The film delves into identity and purpose, as characters like Ash struggle with self-esteem and the desire for acceptance. Through themes of risk-taking, communication, and forgiveness, it reveals the universal human need for connection, cleverly disguised in its whimsical animal world. One of my absolute favorites.

You can never go wrong with this movie. It has all the comfort, humor, and amazing storyline one could ask for. I can watch this movie over and over again without ever getting bored. I recommend this movie to everyone I meet, especially if they are unfamiliar of Wes Anderson’s films. Personally my comfort film is The Darjeeling Limited, but it does get a bit tragic at the end so a safer recommendation is Fantastic Mr.Fox :)

a brisk and incredible read that happens to have a setting that is completely at the whims of the sea, a labyrinthine, infinite collection of corridors lined with ornate statues, inside of which an ocean is imprisoned. it’s a great evolution of borgesian magical realism with beautiful prose and a hook that sunk deep into me early on, i lamented closing the final page for weeks after
