Skating on a frozen pond
This ruled. this has been a bucket list item for me since I was a very small child and I woke up early this morning to cross it off. It’s Cloudless and not too frigid (21 degrees) and I skated on the humboldt park pond for about 2 hrs …. Had to take some breaks though because I haven’t been on ice skates in almost a decade and I forgot it’s murder on your shins and ankles and knees….

omg this is a dream of mine. i used to be a figure skater (and then covid happened and i never really got back into it afterwards) but i also live in australia. i have never seen snow before but one day i DREAM to skate on a frozen lake. i just want to hear the hollow echo as my skates glide across the ice

jilly the sound of skates thru snow is probably one of the most pleasing things i’ve heard in recent memory. Sounds to me like you need to move to the American Midwest.

There’s something inherently special about public outdoor ice skating rinks. Despite ending up with a concussion the last time I was at the outdoor rink, throughout winter it has served as a public space free of pretension (rare!) Whoever you are, ice skating brings out the inner child in everyone because it’s all boiled down to one thing: gliding over ice. Look left, a six year old has fallen for the umpteenth time. A smile from ear to ear. Look right, a 60 year old man, hockey obviously being a past life, fluttering past you. A smile from ear to ear.

Get off the apps
Dating Apps are killing true flirters every day. I have been challenging myself to get off the apps and flirt irl with strangers as often as is appropriate. Difficult because sometimes I forget how to be charming if I am nervous or anxious…but i am slowly killing my anxiety and attempting to live a fuller life and i am lowkey proud of that … as fuck
