and not feeling ashamed about it! I just changed my thesis subject 6 months after I started working on it because I realized it was OKAY !!!!! life is good, going back to get that done now because I am back at zero lmao
Yes, the previous 6 months aren’t a waste but a learning experience - illumination. Good luck with your new thesis! I had a similar situation when a year into my computer science degree I decided to change degree, and I believe I made the right decision
sniffle Thank you ! I agree, it was a learning experience and now I’m even more motivated to get it done right! + how are we supposed to know what we want if we don’t try it ? Same for your degree you might have regretted not doing it and now you know it wasn’t your thing!
victoire exactly! We only live once so best to find what suits us instead of uncomfortably sitting with something we‘re too scared to change. Ever since I heard about the sunk cost fallacy I always think about that when weighing up options - do I want to continue something because I enjoy it or because I already spent time on it?
And as you said, changing can lead to that extra motivation as we‘re now doing something we enjoy.
This has to be my first rec for 2025, try everything to get where you want to be, love the process, pursue your happiness <3 Happy New Year guys!! AND THE CRINGE OF TRYING IS GOOD
