It is seriously the most soothing activity. It’s simple, it’s gentle, it smells good, it feeds your friends and makes them happy. If you’re feeling low, I truly and deeply recommend getting a pan out and some crushed tomatoes and just slowly making a simple tomato sauce and slap it on some spaghetti. Your heart will feel grateful.
Whether it’s actually from scratch (like roasting tomatoes in the oven scratch) or starting w a canned tomato base, making ur own sauce makes me feel like my regular degular pasta dish is elite and I am a Michelin star chef, and who doesn’t love to feel like a star?!
(don’t even get me started on pasta al limone - literally so simple, you feel like a true Italian, and ur audience is wowed)
but like, take 2-3 hours pouring into it - dive into the meditation and zen of doing the prep work to relax I made spaghetti aglio e olio which has about ~5 ingredients and I took my sweet ass time getting those garlic slices thin af
It cost $2 at a market. It’s gigantic, soft, and orange. I can’t explain why, but it just makes me happy. The color is so bright and it’s so fluffy. Sometimes, the little things count.
Free on Tubi until the end of the month.
A bare indie film from 1998 starring young Toni Colette and a restrained, but peRfEcT Parker Posey - about four girls temping in an office, who find their budding dynamic disrupted by the appearance of an anonymous office thief !
Anyway, I weirdly love it. It’s stranger than it should be allowed to be - and funnier - a good comfort watch.
None of us really spend our time in bland corporate office environments anymore, so it's funny and a bit deranged to remember back to when 9-5 was the premiere terror of all creative independent minds.
