Getting comfortable being on camera

when I was younger I was deeply afraid of having my picture taken and in general was very camera shy or ashamed of how I looked in pictures I can’t really pinpoint why this is but I look back and wish I could tell myself that you’ll want them for the memories. Now I’m lucky to have friends who take plenty of pictures and bring point and shoot cameras everywhere they go

taking more pictures just for me

I don’t always want to post them but I find that getting into the habit of taking lots of photos, good and bad, both with people in them and not, makes me want to keep them safer than just on instagram. that’s my emotional support folder… get away from her…

theres something about letting go of my egocentric thoughts for just a minute and becoming a gentle observer to the world around me that makes me feel human. being able to shift my focus outside of myself and appreciate a single shot as it is makes me feel like life is really worth living!
