eyes lighting up

you know the glow someone has when they’re talking about something they love/are interested in. gets me every single time. it’s so spellbinding. and the last friend i had a crush on, took my word as gospel. i would mention a song to him and in front of me he would save the song and the album, add it to his favourite playlist and do a proper listen to the artist and tell me all about his favs when we would see next. same with movies, i made him a list of some of my favs and he would watch them and report back in depth to me.

don‘T Hoard your affections

Life is so much more fun when you let yourself express how much you love someone or something without reservations. Don’t half ass it. Tell strangers with cool outfits how much you love their style. Tell your friends how much you love their company. Share your favourite books and movies with randos online, and go into excruciating detail about why. Tell your mom about your favorite memories from growing up. Let your fondness fill up so much space within you and around you - the world feels so much more magical when you let yourself get excited about what’s in it.

Interrogating your interests

*shines bright light in your face* But WHY do you like what you like?! Echoing a sentiment from Tyler, the Creator, where he tweeted for people to expand on what they liked about his songs and delve into the WHY (i.e the bridge, chords, riffs) Truly believe it’s so so important to be able to articulate why things bring us enjoyment, pleasure and giddiness, because that just makes way for one to obsess/ research and learn more about said thing! This is basically a gratitude post for PI, I just love blagging about what makes this Little Life of Mine more bearable !!!

accepting that you’re not trendy and cool

tried reading dante alighieri’s inferno. key emphasis on tried. i got bored and realised a story written in poem form is not my typa beat. i tried because it seemed like what all the indie hipsters who are well versed would read, and that i would look cool and niche—but it just cost me $25. i prefer crazy detailed paragraphs rather than a line by line story. anyways
