i have a tendency to hole up inside, but i’ve been trying to go outside more when it’s nice out. the woods is a magical place, and i went to check out a new trail by my house with a creek. outside is full of whimsy and you can pretend to be a fairy or something frolicking through the forest šŸ§šā€ā™€ļø

either going on a hike or just exploring and taking my time somewhere in nature. It helps me to get some perspective and reset. I prefer somewhere with a creek, I like looking at different rocks trying to find ones that have cool shapes/textures/colors. look for national/state forests or wildlife refuges near you! for creative ruts, i’ll do an excercise sometimes where I look for weird shadows or leaves or anything really and try and turn those shapes into characters or just see how my brain reinterprets them. it’s a nice low stakes creative game

the knowledge that, at all times, all sorts of drama is unfolding in the sky above me and i just need to go to a dark place and look up, is profoundly humbling yet uplifting. it’s the best nature-based ā€œattitude adjustmentā€ (followed closely by relaxing in a stand of old growth trees).

getting out of my own space helps an infinite amount…also just being in nature if you can, listen to the plants and animals and wind
