Last Sunday each month the local Buddhist temple has English chanting services. The melodic vibrations start low, breaking up flem, transition to higher & softer, plus 10 minutes of silence. It's physically transforming. No pressure to conform to an institution.
I love jazz, and recently discovered other types of music infused with jazz (example is traditional Chinese). It's so soothing, but I hope it's not disrespectful to the original cultural music.
