New materials, instruments, software or objects often aren’t the solution for inspiration. Creativity is stoked by limits — work with what you’ve got, and don’t let consumer culture tell you shit about what you need. When you’re not overwhelmed with new, expansive (and expensive!) inputs, the outputs abound. Anyway, I’ve had this orb lamp and glass fixture cover for a long time, just realized I can put them together. New lamp! Looks like a pearl! Yes, it has a duct tape roll at the base!
I found a working lamp on the sidewalk and after a thorough clean I’m making a ”lampshade” with glass beads! I think I’ll use a ton more and get a softer bulb but how fun to experiment!
I love lamps that softly diffuse light — can’t go wrong with lanterns (link here, here and here for inspo), plus they have endless DIY potential. I made this one with a stack of shades + a base from another broken lamp.
Trying not to rec too many material goods but come ON look at this thing Literally you could have a bare empty room and this would make it heavenly. and they can do so many cool color combos. I will genuinely be bringing this with me to my housing for my summer job it’s that worth it
