but unlike Jean-Pierre Léaud who would become a breakthrough actor, Shafiq Syed would drive rickshaws to make a living after the movie. This is the antithesis of slumdog millionaire, dreams dont always come true
an all-time great imho and criminally under the radar given Makhmalbaf‘s juggernaut status. it was cool when I found out a good English subtitle version had been uploaded @ this link on my birthday this year :’)

If you love it or if you don’t, this is a must see. A great work not just to introduce the iranian cinema but to also introduce a different culture and how creators find their ways to create through limitations. Iam absolutely amazed by this short film!!
