upon the wooden arched bridge I tread,
the melodic hum of water, spread.
I see the ducks, the turtles in play,
and feel the river’s pulse in sway.
it has taken me across the small divide,
a simple passage,
where peace did bide.
(Also shoutout to big bridges and investment in public infrastructure in general, that’s good stuff hey)
darice aw haha, I’ve used a couple of your recs as prompts to write little poems for myself. your recs are just good at making me think of and visualise specific memories! it’s pleasant!! so thanks for that (:
Because what are steel beams, chunks of concrete, an unbelievably massive utility pole, a water treatment facility if not pieces in a sculpture park. My storm king! (Also technically a rec for Hornsby Bend in Austin TX, technically the city's water treatment area which is interesting in its own right, but also a wonderful destination for birding) don't even get me started on elevated highways....
Yes it's a tourist trap and that's exactly the point. I will almost always hoof it on over the bridge if there's time. You'll hear like six different languages during peak hours and be surrounded by people who are so stoked to be alive and in the moment. You'll see people Facetiming lovers, family, etc... you'll see people hugging, kissing, laughing, taking pictures, etc. Some dude carries a huge python on the bridge sometimes. One time I saw a couple bring a foldout dining set, candles and all... And the view!? It's so beautiful. Even better now that they are no longer pitting bikers and pedestrians up against each other. Take the bridge!!!
