this website gives you a random album each day to listen to, from the book 1001 albums to hear before you die. it skews heavily to western/american music, but there are definitely some gems in there. plus it has made me more open to listening to new albums recently released

Some music journalists put together a list of 1001 albums to hear before you die, they've revised it a few times in the decades since it came out. Someone made a website that randomly generates a new album from that list every day (you can google the list to get a little taste). You can set up a group and the people in it all get generated the same album. I have a small group of friends who have become very dedicated to the practice. It's nice to have just a little pressure to finally sit down and listen to some of the all time classics. It's really great when it's a day that's an album you already love. And it's an interesting mental exercise to listen to an album that you really don't like (somehow this doesnt seem to have effected my spotify algo too much) Whenever we're together we end up discussing the most recent ones. It's been a nice addition to my life individually, and i was pleasantly surprised to see how often we end up talking about them when we're together.
