hii!āļø these are the books i'm currently reading: - crime and punishment (fyodor dostoevsky) - less is more: how degrowth will save the world (jason hickel) - history (elsa morante) - the copenhagen trilogy: childhood, youth, dependency (tove ditlevsen) - beloved (toni morrison) - pedagogy of the oppressed (paulo freire) i like reading multiple books at a time depending on how i feel, but when i'm about to finish one i usually focus on it until the end. up next: - intermezzo (sally rooney) - the seven moons of maali almeida (shehan karunatilaka) - an autobiography (angela y. davis) - the light years (elizabeth jane howard) - the forbidden notebook (alba de cĆ©spedes)

Howdy! Thanks for sharing (: (gotta say, I dig your reading and to-read list) lately I’ve been trying to fit more nonfiction and books in general into my brain and reading time slots I’m currently going through AimĆ© CĆ©saire’s works. If you’re vibing with Pedagogy of the Oppressed, I’d highly recommend him. also, The Shock Doctrine and This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein are both critiques of capitalism (yay), exploring how our systems and the people they benefit exploit and exacerbate climate change and disasters. I really enjoyed The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida! I don’t want to inadvertently spoil anything for you, but the person the main character is inspired by is definitely worth researching in his own right. The history is a really interesting side (or post) read to dive into researching. Happy reading out there 🫔

burrita I should qualify not directly inspired by him! Richard de Zoysa. There’s a collection of his poems called This Other Eden that I’ve been trying to find a copy of!! Karunatilaka’s Chinaman: The Legend of Pradeep Mathew is also on my list to check out
