hello!!!! im nora, a lot of people know me as nori, and i wanted to start blogging again as a hobby so i thought this could be a cool platform to try out… i enjoy music, live shows, radio, art, and a lot of other things… and i plan to talk about all of it :) this will also serve as a spot for me to log mixes from my semester-long radio show ‘in your orbit’ and perhaps i’ll post some of my printmaking work here too, maybe talk about it. trying to keep a really relaxed approach to blogging, because it’s supposed to be fun! thanks for reading <3

I wanted to make my first post! My name is Sara :) when i was a kid learning how to speak I couldn’t pronounce my name and I kept introducing myself as “Zjazja“ (I guess the letters S and R were too difficult for my 5year old tongue) My mom thought that was really cute and turned it into my nickname. I’m in my 20s now and often times when she sees me she still calls me zjazja. I love the nostalgia so I rolled with it and made it my nickname online too. I am an illustrator and intermediate graphic designer, when I saw an ad for this app I loved how cozy the style felt and had to join in! A lot of social media today is too business centered and focused on algorithm and engagement, this is a nice change of pace to have a little corner for yourself to share the world around u. My goal using this app is to get out of my comfort zone of self isolation and put myself out there more. Nice to meet u! 💛

THE LONGING TO COLLAB AND CREATE WITH OTHER CREATIVE BEINGS IS SO STRONG. so unbelievably tired of robot people that i now find myself shouting out into the abyss of this random website i stumbled across. not knowing if anyone will ever even see this, but i honestly don't care at this point im just over ignoring the gnawing urge whispering (now yelling) at me to put myself out there. despite this whole post reekinggggg of desperation, i swear im someone that has peace in their personal world of creative expression and growth no matter how unideal my circumstances are. im just very aware of the certain limitations that come with isolation and the certain freedoms that come when you push outside comfy ol'reliable, mr.solitary. i believe that collaboration with other creatives is a major key to inspiration, pushing boundaries, raw vulnerability, and elevating self: ingredients that produce truly delicious art. anyways, if your seeing this and agree with any of it or wanna support my art or wanna talk about cool shi etc. don't hesitate to interact, i swear im a kind person that just has a deep love for all art/creative expression and those who love it too (i say in hopes of not sounding extremely cheesy and creepy) :) xoxo, everywhere

SABLA STAYS Graphic work

Sabla Stays is a multidisciplinary Art Director and Designer. She is the visual brains behind a lot of the work housed by the creative institute that is Solange‘s Saint Heron. Having worked on many projects featured there as well as the designs for Solange‘s magnificent album “When I Get Home”. Her to me, captures an authentic gaze of a Black World rooted in truth and what creates this authenticity is the expression of that truth in ways that break beyond conventionality into art while still being narratively and aesthetically cohesive. Looking at Sabla’s work puts me in a dreamscape where I am placed in the future but the past and present have merged to find a home here.
