i have been using OLauncher for android for a couple years (it's free!) and it's honestly been a game changer for me. you get used to it fairly quickly too.

Great movie to kick off the new year, on at 9 PM on the 31st at the Studio Galande cinema in the 5th arrondissement, lots of fun and probably very nice people to meet. Come dressed up for extra fun.
As a bonus, I believe it's the only theatre in the world that's been showing the movie weekly with actors since it first came out in 1975, so that's pretty cool !

If you’re from brooklyn or new york city or just moved here, i know, this is cliche. But i! Don’t! Care! The truffle popcorn is addicting, even if I'm farting for the rest of the movie, it’s worth it. Plus they have cute little trailers to gab about with your date or friend, but i also go alone because nobody tried to have small talk with you at the movies and you can just disassociate peacefully in blissful high-power air conditioning on a hot nyc summer day. They have guest curators on a monthly basis and do fun screenings of old flicks. Highly recommend it. Nitehawk > Alamo.

I have another indie theater that I prefer because it’s cozier, has better vibes, is much closer to me, and everybody who works there is genuinely passionate about film. It’s not really anything special visually but it’s a beautiful institution and it’s so fun to be there ❤️
But this one is an old art deco theatre designed by architect John Eberson (he designed Loew’s Paradise in the Bronx and the Paradise Theatre in Chicago)! It’s pretty run down/poorly managed and staffed but it’s a gorgeous building and definitely worth visiting. Not my photos but included for illustrative purposes!!

i have been on a journey to untangle my tasks from my iPhone.
i'd be out in the world someplace, pull out my phone for something as menial as checking the time, or as well intentioned as capturing the moment in a pic, and immediately get sucked into texts and instagram™️ and all the virtual things happening in this tiny lil demon light box.
the goal: pull my phone out of my bag ONLY for phone things. that's texting, calling, and apps that can't be replaced
the solutions so far:
🕰️ i started with a watch (shoutout Casio) and i wear it every day. once I broke the habit of checking my phone for the time, I felt legitimately freed from something Major
📷 I bought a small digital camera to leave in my bag. the pics look better and I don’t get distracted by the virtual world when I'm trying to capture something in the now
📚 I bought a kindle. It fits in my jacket pocket (literally) and gives me something to do when I'm on the train or waiting for an appointment that isn't scrolling
I just realized so much of the time I spent on my phone was not intentional. It was a thing I was doing in between Other intentional moments. my screen time is still several hours a day (don’t get me wrong) but I think my brain has healed at least 3%.

Things u can do before you sit down at your desk:
‼️Shower
‼️Meditate
‼️Put a lil Outfit on
‼️Take a walk and/or Buy a latte
‼️Do an errand
‼️Move ur Body
‼️Do your dishes
‼️Read a chapter of ur book
‼️Squeeze in 1hr of Saturday every week day morning
Things this decreases:
🦺Existential dread
🦺Job-related resentment
🦺Days and weeks melting away into nothing but Emails
🦺Feelings of Impending doom

The ocean is full of whimsy. It creates life and supports life and is full of magic. Earth is a water planet and thats why we exist. It's also just full of amazing party facts and interesting rabbit holes and endless learning. I like when she makes it to the news and There's a spark - a moment - when everyone is talking about her majesty. If we all loved and pushed to protect her I think the whole world would change
