The currently circulating banana chart doesn’t accurately portray my banana preferences. I think a perfect banana is between 9-11 on this scale. Bananas should be purchased between 5-7 and you should begin to manage banana ripening + ethylene gasses at around #7 (wrapping, separating, refrigerating). Bananas become edible around #8 and become an ingredient as opposed to a solitary food at stages 13-15. Thank you very much for your time.

i cannot stand ripe bananas. the taste is too strong, the texture is so slimy and mushy, and overall it's a gross experience for me. but slightly unripe bananas?! delicious. high in fibre and lower in sugar. the perfect texture, the perfect taste, i could eat a whole bunch. you have to pick the right ones though, they can't be too yellow and not too green, aim for a yellow-chartreuse and some brown spots are okay. pictures 4 is the sweet spot. 3 and 5 are acceptable but not ideal. if it has freckles and many brown spots β€” absolutely not πŸ™…πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

I believe that the greener the bananas you buy the better. I also exclusively like to eat green bananas so I may be biased. But buying green bananas allows them to ripen in your house. Typically when the banana is yellow with anywhere from a little green at the end or the beginning of browns spots its considered ripe.
