i love popcorn as much as the next guy, but it’s time to leave 15 dollar mediums in the past. last week i brought a thick as hell italian sandwich to a 12:30 showing of “I’m Still Here,” and it was gone before the trailers ended. Let me give you a breakdown. Baguette: cut in half and ripped open with my bare hands. Salami, capicolla, maybe some mortadella if i’m feeling crazy. Provolone, lettuce, onion, and a little olive oil and vinegar if they are easily accessible (mine was made in a trader joe’s parking lot.) Might even offer a bit to the guy sitting 3 rows in front of me. The movie theater sandwich awakens something in you. You become a new person by the time it’s done.

And then you order an xtra large popcorn and act like you‘re ordering it for two people but you are eating all of it by yourself aren’t you? you then get a stomach ache with an hour left to go in the movie and have to leave.

u will leave with a renewed spirit, and possibly a giant bag of free leftover popcorn that they would have otherwise tossed out

i never have money to go to movie theaters so i have a small list to take from but the substance takes the cake the theatre was EMPTY except for my friends and i i was baked its a nyc theatre so there were rats scurrying around the seats so we had to put our feet up and just absolutely ravenous body horror and since we were alone i could squeal in surprise (or excitement) with no worries of social standards

older films rock, and i HIGH recommend Shadow of a Doubt, Alfred Hitchcock’s self proclaimed best work. A movie about the death of the american small town, familial abuse, divorce, and weird incestuous tensions. it’s one of the more tense films i’ve seen without really showing too much actual voilence. It’s all about power, control, and how people can be manipulated. Also I am a huge fan of Park Chan-Wook’s Stoker, and had no idea that was loosely based on this film. That movie rips too go watch it after they make a fantastic double feature.

get drunk, embarrass yourself, it’s worth it, it will strengthen your bonds (as long as it’s not your boss)

the amc a-list is well-known gem, but it is really one of the best deals available, especially after the recent change they made to it. four movies a week! what! However I get sometimes you just have to go to the cinema on a budget, tickets can be expensive. STILL, support your local independent theater if you can!! at least around me there are multiple rep theaters (shoutout the coolidge theater in Boston and the Brattle in Cambridge) that constantly show old films and introduce classics to a new audience. I will die for these theaters, and I try to find a balance between using my a-list for new movies and seeing rep screenings at the indies! you can do both! I LOVE MOVIES!!!!
