The real-time nature of this documentary allows it to feel much more than its premise might suggest. Absolutely brilliant filmmaking. Watch on Paramount+ w/ Showtime
a great but short docu-series on 2 serial bombers. prob doesn’t have any fanfic, but in terms of true crime it’s wonderful. its fully acted out (no narration. not like a documentary) and does a great job at hooking you. highly recommend (on netflix)
A four part doc series that starts as true crime and then becomes much more, a journey into the rabbit hole of conspiracy, three letter agencies, and the nature of truth itself. (FULL DISCLOSURE: I was one of the editors, but am so proud of this series, and would watch it immediately if I didn’t help make it)
There are some real heavy hitters nominated in both categories that are barely being talked about. These are some of my favorite movies every year. Give them all a watch this year, except Emilia Pérez. That one sucks and no one should watch it.
