dvd menus: a dying art form
as a consequence of the decay of physical media, we are losing our fun DVD menus. i picked out a few DVDs out of my parent's cabinet and i almost forgot how fun and creative they can be. i think one of the best examples is the iconic shrek idol of shrek 2.

We had a shrek dvd growing up (either 2 or 3) and donkey would say 'play da movie yah' if you left it too long, my dad still quotes it when we press play on anything!!!

i fear that one day all these online movie streaming sites are going to either remove the movies i love or just eventually become obsolete to some other, newer form of movie-watching. so ive started collecting the movies i love on dvd. if i ever see one in a thrift store, it’s in my hands neooow. plus, i love having my own copy. it feels like an homage to myself.

resisting irony brain
as a result of being phone addicted and social media rotted, i've been noticing how much of an impact irony culture has had on me. from the way i converse to how i consume any media or art, i'm always compelled to make a fucking joke out of everything. one of my goals this year is to bring back sincerity into my life. i'll still allow myself to laugh at some random silly shit i see online, but i want to focus on really reflecting on the way i interact with the world and those around me.
