I feel so lucky to be in one of the few US cities (Portland, NYC, Boston) that has a Muji store. If you’re not familiar, it’s basically Japanese Lifestyle Ikea. Don’t want to ride too hard for a brand but they make genuinely great minimalist stationary, clothing, storage, and travel products that I have been using forever. In particular, I have probably bought half a dozen refills of mechanical pencils, pens, notebooks, planners, and diaries over the years, especially back when they let me custom stamp my diary (why did they get rid of that in PDX??) These feel more practical, well made, and versatile than typical american brands. I spent a reasonable $40 or $50 on a raincoat there too, which has proved to be lightweight, perfectly minimal, effective, with a nice drape. Also the travel toiletries (toothbrush, toothbrush holder, portable loofah) and fillable containers are cheap and durable!! You’ll want to use them forever! I usually despise shopping but every time I step inside of a Muji it makes my organization-loving Virgo moon very happy .

Nothing feels better than a good pen, I got this one from a stationary store in Tokyo called Kakimori. It is refillable with whatever color ink you like and is a traditional rollerball pen So there's not the fuss of more advanced writing utensils like fountain pens with nibs etc. When the cap comes off it extends the pens length and balances it out perfectly but that means when the cap is on it's shorter and more portable, it's also solid aluminum so it's super durable. The notebook is from a gallery in Bangkok that had a bunch of fun random notebooks made by artists. Kakimori also does custom notebooks which is super fun (This is not that one but I'll show off mine in another post)
Side Note: stuffs A lot cheaper in japan

trust me.... this is the best pen ever but its also maybe a counterfeit? muji actually only sells 0.38 pens which arent nearly as swag but ok- i like the blue one. idk the estimates of diameter for bags, so; a leutchermann(sooo many varieties)is good but also 2nd hand shops sometimes have notebooks- where u can maybe investigate better. personally, i use the anglessy paper company lokta paper trekker journal, its a little bigger than a5, unlined just pure lokta paper but the charm is the lokta bc its all pulply and cute and all ur art flows thru the hands of ppl in nepal. theres probably other brands selling similar stuff(which if u r liking can find) i just stick to the classic. good luck in ur journalling babes, its maybe best to just find some rando one and go from there.

Look, it’s not a beautiful, independent store, but if you’re looking for a great dot grid notebook, they’ve got you covered
