used to really annoy me because every day I walk past this famous view of my city on my daily commute - but one day I realised that people have literally taken flights and spent their hard-earned money just to come and see the view that I get every single day and it completely changed my perspective now my walk is full of joy, watching families, or couples, or friends all take picture of each other, admire the view, explore the place I take for granted no longer!!
this is something i should do much more of. every time i visit another city i scope out the best spots, hit all the sights, and pack in my days with fresh experiences. once u live somewhere for a while u just kinda stop being excited and fall into a routine. there are still so many things i havenβt seen in nyc, and probably will never see, because 90% of my time is spent in my own neighborhood. be a tourist in your own city
the old-fashioned way, like you would before the entire internet was monopolised into basically three conglomerates. why would you spend all your time on your computer swapping between instagram tiktok youtube pinterest when you could find some of the coolest websites you've never heard about learning information your algorithm would never feed to you!!!!
a good place to start is your favourite artist's websites (not just musicians!) sometimes they have blogs (especially if they're writers) and often they link websites they like.
I also like magazine websites - the face, angel food, hot literati
or craigslist missed connections. I check the new york section all the time
