been thinking about mystery a lot, and this piece has a really interesting perspective on how it can be misused. authority is mysterious and blindness feels safe. seems a little like where we are now.

my two-pence as a fellow drop out. First and foremost speak - it’s easy to feel inferior but most importantly speak to people as that’s how you become secure in your knowledge and learn how to articulate yourself. I have many issues with academia, one of them being the forms and structures you’re expected to follow. it‘s selective and exclusive, as well as being inherently elitist especially in countries where you have to pay for higher education. I could write and essay on this, but right now I’ll only argue for what i think is the most fundamental and that is: In any educational institution you are taught a specific way of articulating and formulating yourself. This structure is learned and as a society it’s what we associate with intellectualisation and our concept of knowledge as its the format which has prevailed (historically only accessible to the privileged few with money). This Is also tied to a western obsession with the literary word where other forms of communication are valued to a lesser extent. There are lesser opportunities if you chose to go a route outside of education - because it’s less likely to economically make profit. i think it’s important to remember that academia does not determine how clever you are, its a skill and a way of articulating yourself - your ideas may be infinitely more progressive and unprecedented but within these institutions it will always depends on how you formulate and intellectually present yourself. dont fear having a dialogue with other people because it will improve your skill at communicating in person- which undoubtedly has more impact than the written word ever had, and ever will have. we all digest information differently- wether that’s audio, visual, through words written on a page or a video of someone talking. the internet archive is incredible because of its many different mediums and everything is accessible for FREE!! https://archive.org The anarchist library is good for reading up on revolutionary ideas ;)

Firs tthing- walter Ben-ya-meen. If u bring him up in conversation and say ben ja min ur gonna look like an idiot apparently. But its funny bc its not like people say Valter Benyameen. They say walter. Go figure. Anyways this text is So Great. im definitely late to the game to this contexts of frankfurt dialectics, post war philosophy manifestos, yada yada but this one is so powerful and formative esp if ur an artist or visual creator that is Woke. Its one of his more accessible writings, and he is also a very important person to kno if u r even remotely into literature/philosophie/art/design/criticism etc. Benyameen talks about this loss/absence of human experience post war/industrual revolution whcih i think is rlly the root of all this floptok based retard gang xiaohongshu on the extreme side, but even at its most tame (yet this is more insidious/barbaric in the bad way as Benyameen puts it) all of these miu miu shoe unboxing, day in the life of a big city transplant, clean consumerism we are witness to online. It is rlly this central idea of experience that hit home for me, and the resulting idea of barbarism which fr opened my third eye and put words to the feelings of trying to contextualize our days of Today. Im also totally going to start using the word barbarian to describe creatives and intellectuals and world leaders haha. Be the Good Barbarian. dm me if u want my annotated copy i culd keep going but arent these meant to be kept short idk<3

Reality seems to be more complex, auspicious, terrible, mysterious, and magical than we’re taught in school/college and shown on the news and in mainstream media. I recommend reading nonfiction books that reference non-mainstream sources, and are maligned or ignored by the New York Times and other mainstream media, to get closer to the truth.

i love being alone. i know who i am when i'm alone and i love myself when i'm alone. when i'm around people it's easy to forget and i get lost and aimless. how do you share parts of yourself without feeling overexposed? even just sharing creative work makes me feel like it's not mine any more and makes me doubt the part of myself that went into making it. but i also feel so stagnant when i'm not putting anything out into the world. where is the balance? how do you deal with this?
