The Bird in the Gravel is one of my all time favorite songs. I’d listen to it every morning on my commute to nanny a homicidal six year old on the upper west side and float above myself on the subway for a glorious 10 minutes and 32 seconds.

It always amazes me when songwriters can capture life’s little miracles so effortlessly and Katie’s ability to do so often makes me well up. This is my favorite of the three (excellent) singles off her debut solo album What A Relief, what is sure to be one of the best releases of the year. Bonus points for fiddle and Amber Bain of the Japanese House on vocals.
one of the only true "no skips" in my opinion - this album has a uniquely moody atmosphere that nothing else can encapsulate, not even any of the other portishead projects. making out with this in the background will make you instantly fall in love with someone, be careful.
currently being a bit more financially responsible and finding that the only way for me to stay on top of things is to know my daily budget and actually write it down and see the numbers with my own eyes, because numbers don't mean shit to me otherwise
