why does a genuine compliment or a random act of kindness hit so fucking hard. like I have a real cartoony cupid with an arrow type moment to every show of gentle and loving human interaction that I see it.

I love to be surprised by a stranger offering kindness out of the blue. Just now I was jogging to the train, as I do because I always leave things last minute - so I was on time to make it. But a guy in a car just stopped by me and asked if I was going to miss my train and offered a quick lift to the station I declined because I was still on time (nothing against him) but I love how that random guy just decided to stop for a moment to offer kindness, such a nice little interaction to enter the weekend with :) there’s still lots of love in the world, despite the richest trying to force barriers between strangers Also reminds me of the times working in the supermarket where I saw strangers offer to buy things for others if the other person was just short, people they might never see again but decided to give money to.

this sort of feels like a silly “skill” to be working on but it can be very scary to work up the courage to compliment a stranger! yet it usually ends up creating a really nice moment for both parties involved. every compliment doled out is a little win in my book

there’s a short story written by Ray Bradbury called The Illustrated Man that centers around a man whose markings change to tell different, tragic stories. this isn’t exactly the point of that story, but i love the idea of having my chosen tattoos be on me and watch me grow/how they add to my story. maybe my snat (snail/cat) is sentient and loves me, too.

Creating things hasn’t always been my strong suite because I feel like everything needs to be perfect all the time. Big fan of junk journal for that reason- collaging with little trinkets and junk I collect is the most low stakes rewarding thing I’ve done in a while
