I’m convinced it’s the only perfect romantic comedy.
1. It’s romantic as hell. Watching the protagonists fall in love AND have a healthy relationship????? Rarely seen
2. Timelessly and hugely funny. Especially if you also come from a big family and/or have immigrant parents
3. There is real emotional conflict without unnecessary stress. Relatable in a lot of ways
I’ve never seen the sequels tho and I don’t plan to
nia vardalos really popped off making a movie where the lead man worships the ground she walks on without her needing to change a SINGLE THING about herself + the “makeover” is actually the lead woman gaining confidence and acceptance on her OWN TERMS without the man + the families are nutty but ultimately love and value each other over any of the silliness. 100/10
