gilda radner's memoir like actually was sooo lifechanging!! it's called "it's always something". so so good, i recommend to anyone who likes comedy or anyone who is just interested in how the U.S. medical system fails women in getting the diagnoses they need. so wonderful and heartbreaking

this book is kinda hilarious. it’s a bunch of short stories/memoirs from comedy writer and playwright lauren weedman. my experience reading this reminded me of watching the office actually. it was almost unbearable to read these hyper cringe accounts but by the mid point of the book it all clicked and it became both endearing and hilarious. by the end of the book, i felt like i had a new friend :) also, i found it on my mom’s bookshelf with the second hand bookstore receipt in it from 2009. she had highlighted a handful of lines about having a boring sex life. hope things have gotten better for her since, but i dare not ask

This is one of the best books I’ve read in years. It’s part memoir about life in the New York State Psychiatric Hospital in the 90s—caught in the shift from Freudian psychoanalysis to the big pharma-influenced biomedical model, part analysis of how women (in particular) are taught to be sick when they need to receive care, not provide it, and part love letter to the madwomen writers from all over. & the writing is just fantastic.

I love her and everything she does and this book it’s great. It’s lighter than the rest and so good. It’s about her relationship with exercise but as always so much more. I loved seeing her go through obsessions and dissecting her life with this lenses. Great drawings and insights, truly recommend!
